Thanks to Harvard undergraduate and Kibale Forest Schools’ Program summer volunteer, Laylah Joudeh, the girls at Kasiisi Primary School are fast becoming expert bare foot soccer players. In general, soccer as a game for girls is a newish concept for Uganda, only common in urban schools. Rural girls usually play netball – a forerunner of basket ball.
As a result of Layla’s regular coaching this summer, the Kasiisi Girls’ Soccer Team will be competing at the Sub-County level in 2016 for the first time – first match August 12th. We just love our volunteers! They bring such energy, fun and new skills to our schools. Thank you Layla!
