The regional spelling bee competitions were held in Fort Portal last weekend. 20 school teams competed of which 13 were Kasiisi Project/Kibale Forest Schools Program schools, entering for the first time. Kasiisi, Komyampere, Kasenda and Kyakatara schools were included in 8 making it through to the fourth round.
Kasiisi Primary School came second overall and is on its way to the National Competition in Kampala at the end of the month. Komyampere won the local language (Rutooro) competition and will also travel to Kampala to be honored.
Congratulations to the schools, and thanks to the Peace Corps for sponsoring this event, our Peace Corps Volunteers for coaching their teams and to volunteer Jim O’Keefe for helping out with the Kasiisi team.
Very well done, students who entered the competition!!! It is
a great achievement just to participate in this event. We are proud of you and grateful to the coaches and others who helped to make this possible.
