How to Help with the Girl Scout Gold Award Program and Kasiisi School

Leslie and Lisa are Girl Scouts in Sudbury MA:

"The Girl Scout Gold Award is a long term service project requiring many hours of work and a self-sustaining, lasting impact that will help a community. We are both interested in the African culture and decided to target a community there. Specifically we chose the Kasiisi School in Uganda because we believe in the importance of education as well as awareness of others’ cultures. Before high school neither of us had much exposure to other cultures, and we thus decided to make our Gold Award Project an awareness campaign targeting elementary schools and the Sudbury community. We are establishing a connection between Sudbury's Nixon Elementary School and the Kasiisi School in the hope that the students at both schools will get a glimpse into another lifestyle. We are implementing a multidisciplinary curriculum at Nixon to continue educating students while providing a hands-on connection with another culture. We are also bringing awareness to the rest of the Sudbury community at events such as the Fourth of July Parade (see photos below) and Sudbury Day.

"We appreciate your support.

"We and the children of Sudbury and Uganda thank you!"
